Weight gain is one of the most common issues confronted by women during the postmenopausal period.

It is well known that eating sugar contributes to weight gain no matter what our age.

However, after menopause the fall in oestrogen levels results in insulin resistance.  This insulin resistance then leads to weight gain, particularly in the waist.

Although it’s difficult, weight loss post menopause is possible.

Even more than in our young years, it is most important for post-menopausal weight loss to choose the right foods, with the focus on  protein, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, and deleting sugar and refined carbs.

Exercise also reduces insulin resistance.
