Vitamin D and Generalised Anxiety Disorder

People with severe symptoms of generalised anxiety disorder may find relief through vitamin D supplementation a new study reports.

The study found that patients who were on included antidepressants and anxiolytic medications, significantly decreased their anxiety symptoms after also taking 50,000 IU of vitamin D3 once a week for three months.

The study also found that serum serotonin levels significantly increased.  Also there was a reduction in serum levels of neopterin, indicating a reduction of inflammation.

Herbal medicines that can support those suffering from anxiety  include Passionflower, Chamomile, Zizyphus, Skullcap, Withania, Kava, and Brahmi.
