REDUCE HEART ATTACK RISK – FLAVONOIDS FOUND IN STRAWBERRIES AND BLUEBERRIES REDUCE HEART ATTACK RISK IN WOMEN.
Eating at least three servings of strawberry and blueberry per week can significantly lower your risk of suffering from heart attack – new research finds.
Flavonoids called anthocyanins in these fruits help dilate arteries, prevent the build-up of plaque in the heart and provide other essential cardiovascular benefits such as reducing inflammation and repairing cellular damage.
What is more surprising is that women who ate a diet rich in other kinds of fruits and vegetables did not have a significant reduction in their risk. The researchers said it is a solid proof that berries were solely responsible for the heart attack reduction benefits.
